“Arch of Time”

Bow Fiddle Rock is a natural sea arch located near Portknockie on the northeast coast of Scotland. It is so named because it resembles the tip of a violin bow.

It is composed of quartzite, a metamorphic rock that was originally quartz sandstone. This rock is part of the Cullen Quartzite Formation, which can be seen along the coast between Buckie and Cullen. This formation is 2,400 meters thick and dates back to the Neoproterozoic era, between 1,000 and 539 million years ago.
