“Guardians of the Cocora Valley”
Standing in the heart of the Cocora Valley in Salento, Colombia, I felt a profound sense of wonder and connection with nature.
As golden light bathed the hills and the towering wax palms swayed gently in the breeze, a quiet reverence hung in the air, as if time had stood still. I was captivated by the contrast of light and shadow, the interplay of vibrant greens on the misty mountains in the distance.
At that moment, my camera became an extension of my vision, capturing not just an image, but also an emotion, a feeling of solitude and harmony, of standing small before something immensely vast and timeless. I also felt a deep gratitude for having been able to observe and preserve such raw beauty.
This shot wasn't just about composition or technique; It was a moment of calm, a fleeting yet profound connection between myself and the landscape.
Dominating the scene was this imposing wax palm (Ceroxylon quindiuense), the national tree of Colombia and the largest palm species in the world.
