“The Awakening of Taygetus”
At 6 a.m., the world was still waking, and I was there to admire the soft glow of dawn painting the peaks of Mount Taygetus. The pinkish hues of the snow-capped ridges contrasted beautifully with the misty blues of the lower slopes, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. I decided to take several photos to merge in Photoshop and create this majestic panorama of Taygetus.
Taygetus is a Greek mountain range located in the Peloponnese. It is known for its pyramidal peak, “Prophet Elijah.”
This year, I hope to have the health and strength to reach the summit of the Taygetus Pyramid at 2,407 meters, the highest point in the Peloponnese… tough as only a solid rock can be! Exalted for its magnificence and revered for its challenging climb; Climbing to the summit of Taygetus would be an unforgettable adventure and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It would be an inner journey and a pilgrimage to a mountain so steeped in history and legend!
